About Me
Hi everyone! My name is Janelle Franco, and I’m honored to serve as the President of the ASL Club this year. My passion for American Sign Language began in high school, where I studied ASL for three years before completing the one-year ASL course sequence here at UCI. My interest in sign language is also deeply personal. My younger cousin was hard of hearing and used ASL to communicate, which showed me how powerful it is to connect with someone in their own language. I’ve also had the opportunity to use ASL in hospital settings to communicate with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing patients, an experience that strengthened my belief in the importance of language access in healthcare. Whether you’re fluent or just beginning your ASL journey, you’re welcome here.
My hope is that everyone who joins feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow both in language skill and in empathy.

About Me
Hello! My name is Rose and I am a fourth year biological sciences major with an interest in hearing and speech sciences. Having a younger sister who was born with profound hearing loss has helped me gain some understanding in the daily struggles of those within deaf and hard of hearing communities. As the vice president, I hope to continue expanding my ASL knowledge while building a community of students interested in educational and interactive opportunities that promote ASL awareness. When I'm not studying, I also enjoy screenwriting, strength training, and hiking.
I have faith that our club will grow into a community that celebrates communication in all its forms and become a lasting platform for understanding and accessibility.

About Me
Hi! I’m Jada, and I’m excited to serve as your Community Engagement Chair this year. My ASL journey began out of curiosity, but it grew into a meaningful part of my life through language, culture, and connection. A significant inspiration for me has been Big Ocean, the first Deaf/Hard of Hearing K-pop group, whose representation motivated me to explore ASL and sign language more deeply. One of the most memorable moments of my journey was receiving my sign name as a gift from my favorite Big Ocean member, Jiseok.
Looking forward to continuing to learn and grow alongside this community.

About Me
Hi, I’m Sariyah Savannah Stevenson, a third-year student at UC Irvine double majoring in Sociology and Education Sciences. I currently serve as the Treasurer of the ASL Club, where I help manage budgets and support inclusive programming. I’m also a Bible study leader with InterVarsity, where I help create space for reflection, connection, and growth. Outside of campus life, I love arts and crafts, spending time in nature, and caring for my growing collection of plants—being a proud plant mom is definitely part of my personality.
I’m excited to keep learning, building community, and finding joy in the little things.
